What To Expect After January 20th

Now that the Electoral College has confirmed that Joe Biden has been elected as the 46th President and Kamala Harris as the 49th Vice President, there's no doubt that we'll at least see some actual governance again. But don't take this as the end all and be all just yet, as their inaugurations on January 20th are just another step into getting ourselves out of the hole Donald Trump and Co. dug us into over the past 4 years. We'll also start to see the final destruction of Mitch McConnell's reign of terror and obstruction.

We could also start to see the start of a particularly bad schism among Republicans between the MAGA (Make America Great Again) crowd and the Never-Trumpers that's going to get ugly fast. While this trend may mean short term gains for the Democrats, this isn't viable long-term. We need a party that can tilt leftward, and the only way to do that is to have a center-right political party to balance a center-left one. We can't have this dynamic between a center-right party (Democratic Party) and a far-right one (Republican Party). This type of dynamic ensures that reforms don't get implemented when they're badly needed. The political and social structures we have are not functioning properly, and it's only breeding more radicalism.

We need to ensure that we fight like hell to keep Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, together with Chuck Shumer and Nancy Pelosi, don't lead us back to business as usual. We're still going to be fighting against the same powerful corporate interests that allowed Donald Trump to become president in the first place. They're not going to give up their spoils without a loud fight. If anything, we need to ensure that we tackle the causes of the radicalization that followed Barack Obama's departure from the presidency back in January 2017.

1 other dynamic to watch after January 20 is the interactions between Russia and China. Despite Vladimir Putin's bluster, the 2 countries are not as united as he claims they are. The reason is very simple, Xi Jin-ping is pissed at Putin for meddling in China's economic relations with America by egging on Trump's trade war for the last 2 years. As stated before watch the Russia-China diplomatic relationship carefully from the time Biden and Harris are inaugurated.

YouTube Is Having A Major Shutdown

It looks as if YouTube got hit by some type of cyber attack. This wouldn't be the first time, and it certainly won't be the last. Don't worry, the company is aware of the service freeze and is working to address it. Have some faith and patience.

What To Expect Post-Election

It's no secret at this point that the storm clouds are gathering between now and Tuesday's election. No, you're not nuts about feeling the tension gripping America right now; if you are, QUIT DOING SO! Many political historians (and political scientists) comparing the tension today with that of the 1850's, which, while accurate, isn't telling the whole story at hand.

It's true that Donald Trump is directing his supporters to act violently in helping his Republican allies in Congress and across the country suppress the voices of his opposition, and keeping them away from the ballot box. It's also true that he's calling on his supporters to engage in violence should he win or lose (the latter being more likely). The biggest factor to watch for is how many voices he, his supporters and Republican allies succeded in stifling; especially black and brown voices. This is what we need to vote out, a political party and movement that've been hijacked for the cause of racial supremacy and violence; and that've devolved into cruelly enforced minority rule (including oligarchy), sheer corruption (including nepotism), and, moreover, complete and utter incompetence.

I left out tyranny as it's been thrown out too many times to too many different scenarioes where we've tried to uphold rights for those who've been constantly sidelined in our historic social hierarchy by race, sex, etc. Terror would be a better descriptor, but even that doesn't come close to describing the effects of Donald Trump's tenure as the 45th President of the United States. The Trump administration's unyielding graft/corruption is what affects us, the American electorate, the worst; this is followed by the administration's utter incompetence, and cruel, and often violent, means of enforcing minority rule.

The Far-Right Is In Full Panic As It Should Be

There's no denying 1 thing about the election campaign for 2020 thusfar, the far-right is in full on panic mode as we speak. Their panic is caused by the fact that they're aware of the probability of losing not just power, but influence over our body politic at this point. After having successfully regaining entry into the Conservative Movement back in 2009, they're now getting a taste of what real power feels like and they don't want to give it up after having been banished to the fringes. Their ideology of hate and racial supremacy is not resonating with the electorate at-large as its newest members are a lot more diverse than older generations where their ideology resonates more soundly.

Their panicking is also causing the Republican Party itself to panic, too. The party's been severely weakened among the electorate from the far-right's egging on Donald Trump's racist (also sexist, anti-Semitic, homophobic, transphobic, and xenophobic) rhetoric, which is aleniating most of the electorate. The party is also losing support for its unwillingness to throw an electorate a financial lifeline after having bailed out big business.

Orange Sky

Orange sky outside my window; unspeakably apocalyptic. I'm just amazed by how dark the smoke has made everything. It's like it's nightime, yet these were shot at around 1:00 this afternoon.

The Republican Party's Growing Desperation

I know that in my last posting I was hyperly focused on the plausible likelihood that the Democrats had thrown the election to Donald Trump, and so I think it's only right to balance that with this post. If there's 1 fact that's not lost on the Republicans, it's that they're not going to glide to an easy victory in holding onto the White House this year; they know. This is because of Donald Trump losing more credibility by the second thanks to his continual stream of falsehoods and race-baiting. People can't stand any more of his constant lying and utter imcompetence; especially with his failed response to the COVID-19 outbreak that started in January.

But this is a bigger drain on the Republican Party in the sense that their arguement of making the government small enough to drown in the bathtub has brought about the deaths of almost 200,000 Americans, and has lead to the biggest wealth gap since the roaring '20s. Their inaction illustrates very clearly why we need government, even with its inefficiencies; and why the private sector can not be relied on for certain things. The fact is that the Republican Party has lost its ability to churn out effective policy to benefit people's lives. They have no policy ideas, and their strategy of relying on White Supremacy is starting to fail them as there are fewer older, racist White Americans available to keep them going.

By not having largely expanded their base outside of White America, the Republicans now know that policy and fairly contested elections are not winnable for them. Their platform does not appeal to younger, diverse voters, nor to Americans living paycheck-to-paycheck. But what's killing them even more is that no one is falling for their scare tactics anymore and are actually standing up to them. This was something that they did not expect at all when fielding Trump four years ago. People are on to their tax-and-austerity scam, as they're living it right now. Underneath everything is a body politic that is ready for the type of change the Republican Party is simply not capable of producing.

Nancy Pelosi Has Potentially Cost The Democrats The Election

I don't know how to make any sense of Nancy Pelosi's recent actions, but I can say that it's done an unnecessary amount of damage to the Democratic Party heading into the homestretch before the election. The last thing we as Americans need is to have someone give something to Donald Trump as a path to reelection. Trump, as i've noted on here on more than a few occasions, is the most corrupt and incompetent president in my lifetime, but Nancy's actions are just inexcusable. She is the fricking Speaker of the House of Representatives, the third-highest ranking official in the federal government. This could potentially cost the Democrats the support they had from Independent (no party affiliation) voters, and make Joe Biden's job of unseating Trump that much harder. This is exactly why we need new leadership in the Democratic Party as the current leadership is badly out of touch with the rest of the electorate. We cannot endure another 4 years of Trump or 6 years of Mitch McConnell.

Almost Pulled The Plug

On Saturday, I was whacked out after my girlfriend gave me a thorough talking-to about how I need to think more broadly about employment opportunities (which she's right about) and to keep the blog going as a hobby. I then decided that on Sunday morning I would pull the plug on the blog and take it down for good, and instead go for an insurance license so that I could take ownership of my family's insurance brokerage. The thought in my head at the time was it was time to face the music, and instead of pursuing a crapshoot pipe-dream, and accept the fact that I needed to sell insurance policies for the rest of my life. Here are some open secrets about why I would fail in doing that:
  1. I'm terrible at standardized tests and would probably do poor on the tests to first get the license and then the CE (Continuing Education) tests for its annual renewal
  2. I'm too honest and can't bullshit people for the life of me
  3. I don't have a seller's mentality
  4. I get frustrated way too easily, especially when filling out forms
  5. I don't have the patience to deal with the insurance companies when they try to weasel out of doing their job
  6. I find insurance to be exceedingly depressing
Luckily, both she and my mom were able to talk me out of it as it's still up and functioning, but I need to find a way to get some means of an income.

1968 Is The Wrong Comparison For 2020

I have no patience for those voices who claim that 1968 is the year for us to compare 2020 to in terms of dynamic similarities, as it's the wrong analogy. The right election years to compare 2020 to are 1980 and 1992. 1980 and 1992 were years of immense change in how certain regions had aligned themselves politically. Some states, like California. were Republican-leaning swing states prior to 1992; while others, such as Texas, had been Democratic-leaning swing states prior to 1980. 2020 is shaping up to be a year along those same dynamics again.

What Donald Trump And The Republican Party's Race-Baiting Shows

This is a truth lost on no one, which is that Donald Trump is flailing in the various polls that have come out. This would also explain the reason for his and the Republican Party's continual race-baiting; they have nothing to run on, except for that. The economy has gone out the window and with the Trump Administration's bungled response to COVID-19, no one in their right mind would want to keep the Republicans in power. Dishonest, corrupt and incompetent; those are the best words to describe the Republican Party these days. The fact that they're being brazenly open about their not bothering to govern is a travesty in itself.

Trump and the Republicans turning to race-baiting illustrates that they've acknowleged that their credibility has disappeared and that they need a scapegoat of some kind to serve as a perfectly placed distraction. No amount of lying can get them out of the jam they're in, and they know this. The only way for them to save what power they do have is for the Democrats to nominate a candidate that no one wants as an alternative. This is classic Republican campaign tactics at work: make someone else the problem, make something else the issue. This didn't help the Republicans in both the 2006 and 2018 midterm elections, nor in the 2008 presidential election. Those 3 election cycles saw the Republicans take steep losses at the polls from having nothing to campaign on.

Bad News That's Going To Plague Joe Biden

The MeToo movement has taken center stage yet again in this year's presidential campaign, and not in a way that's going to help Joe Biden become our next plausible president in November's election. As shown below on Krystal Ball's discussion on The Hill's YouTube channel, the media trying to downplay Tara Reade's credible case of being sexually violated by Biden when he was a Senator back in 1993. Ball was interviewing Juanita Brodrrick about her experience with Bill Clinton, and the similarities and differences with Rede's experience. And on top of that, Broadrrick also informed Ball that she had spoken with Reade on the phone and found Rede's cantation of the event was credible. You can watch for yourself below:

However, that's not Biden's only problem. As Kyle Kulinski points out on his talk show Secular Talk, 51% of Bernie Sanders' base has indicated that they'll likely vote for either a  3rd party or independent candidate, or not vote at all in this year's election. Take a moment to let this sink in, as a good chunk of that base is under the age of 45, a group whose votes Biden needs if his push to unseat President Donald Trump is to be successful. As Kulinski clearly explains, this voting demographic is very clear and consistent in their position that returning to business as usual is not the way to go once Trump's no longer in office. You can find the segment here:

Both of these problems, should they continue going unaddressed, will only hand Trump a 2nd term. Democrats are most likely going to blame the very people whose votes they needed to win for Trump's victory by not turning out. While their accusation will be correct, it also glosses over a whole other problem. This problem is their lack of credibility, as people are just as fed up with their triangulation and bothsidesism ideology as they are with the Republicans' trickle-down economics lie and constant race-baiting to distract from their con job.

Even if an investigation into Reade's accountings exposed that she lied, the fact is that Biden's viability as a candidate would already have been compromised; and another candidate would have to run as his replacement, a candidate with no political base. Dynamics dictate that Biden's replacement on the ticket will most likely be Hillary Clinton. And if she ran this time around, she'd likely lose in a landslide as the electorate had made clear the point of NO MORE CLINTONS back in 2016.

Entitlement

Here's a video of my thoughts at being accused of being entitled to a specific candidate.

Just a minor head's up, the sound quality isn't the best. Sorry, the microphone doesn't exactly mute the background fan noise on my laptop.

Banned from Daily Kos

Looks like my last piece on Daily Kos struck a raw nerve, apparently enough to get me banned from posting on the site. I'm not complaining, though I will say I'm quite disappointingly unsurprised. I can see how it the last article I wrote could be seen as trolling, but I can honestly say that wasn't the case. I'll see if I can get this cleared up in some form or another, and let moderation staff know that it was definitely an error on my end. If I can't post anything else there, so be it. I'll just ask them to close the account. I have no ill will to the site, as I said, I'm more saddended than pissed.

Please don't (and I emphasize DON'T) go over to Daily Kos and rip them (and their moderator team) for placing this ban on me. It's not their fault, it's entirely mine as I got careless tonewise. As I said before, I'll deal with this on my own.

I'll be livestreaming a further explanation on YouTube, and will paste on here when it's ready for anyone who wants to rewatch.

Vote Blue No Matter Who Is Saying Don't Give Us Change, Give Us More Of The Same

The Vote Blue No Matter Who is a folly at the very get-go. That type of campaign message is just an order from the New Democrat Coalition (NDC) run DNC to support their stooges no matter what. At a moment like the 1 we’re in, we can’t afford to go that route. Their slogan is about pushing the stale byline of, “Don’t give us change, give us more of the same.” Except more of the same is what got Donald Trump elected in the 1st place; the complacence that it lulled us as Americans (let alone Democrats) into.

They’ll be attempting to ram that byline down our throats with making Joe Biden the Democratic nominee for president. But it’s not Biden that should concern us, it’s which NDC stooge the DNC will try to get him to declare as his running-mate. The reason the latter should concern us is that it’s a recipe for getting Trump re-elected. And Trump getting re-elected is the last thing we need.

Vote Blue No Matter Who doesn’t solve our problem of hitting rock-bottom, which is what Trump’s presidency represents. This lesser of 2 evils hogwash is what helped propel Trump into the White House, and it will do the same this time around. So the next time you see that hashtag on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter, don’t buy into it. Who the Democratic Party nominates actually does matter, and it’s not just because of turnout. It’s because nominating so-called “moderates” shows that the DNC is clearly not serious about the threat that the Republican Party has truly become. Only by nominating a progressive like Bernie Sanders will show a sharp contrast to Trump, as the only way to defeat a fake populist is with a real 1.

The DNC Is Making The Same Mistake It Did In 2016 By Trying To Ram Joe Biden Through As Nominee

It's not a surprise by any stretch that the Third Way (New Democrat Coalition) controlled Democratic National Committee is trying to ram Joe Biden to the party's presidential nomination; running rough-shod over the protests of the progressive grassroots. But that is a big mistake on the DNC's part, as it's repeating the same mistake it made with Hillary Clinton back in 2016. Before we go into that old tizzy, let's take a step back and look at the bigger picture.

To start with, let's look at how the DNC let complacency take root by forcing Hillary's nomination. They figured, via a pied-piper campaign strategy, that they could get the public to vote for her through their own disgust with Donald Trump's caustic rhetoric; and we all saw how that played out. They also started taking certain constituencies' votes for granted and ran the most tone-deaf campaign, which was also turning off voters. But the biggest mistake it made was that the people wanted continuity, more of the same failed incrementalism that the public was beginning to tire of. For those reasons above, that was what incentivized certain parts of the electorate into either backing Trump (the least qualified presidential candidate in US History) or 3rd-party candidates, or simply staying home and not vote at all. It's undeniable that there were also other factors that played into Hillary's loss; everything from Russian interference in the election to the Republicans cheating by rigging electoral outcomes in their own favor (vote suppression, manipulating voting machines, etc.).

But we shouldn't lose sight of the central premise that the DNC severely miscalculated just how incensed the electorate actually was at the time; incensed with essentially being held hostage (and bullied into voting for the "candidate" [aka Hillary]) and then being left behind once the voting was done. By making so many derisive comments of their own, the Democrats pissed away all the votes they needed in order to win. Calling anyone who didn't vote for Hillary, during both the primaries and the general, mysogynists and "Bernie Bros" created so much ill-will that the progressive grassroots didn't turn out as heavily as they had done in both 2008 and 2012 when Barack Obama was at the top of the ticket. Trump and the Republicans exploited this rift to snatch the presidency.

As for the Russians, it's easily confirmable to say that the Republican Party colluded with them in 2016. However, that fits into a larger pattern that's been described on this blog once before. There's a likelihood that they won't be able to play the peripheries in this year's election like they did last time. Not because of Donald Trump's bumbling, but because of the intelligence community and social media giants' due diligence in weeding out potential misinformation campaigns.

All of that said, we can't ignore the other inconvenient fact, which is that the DNC is doubling down on the same failed strategy this time, only substitute Hillary with Biden. The Corporate Dem Establishment is still up to its old antics yet again upon Bernie Sanders. They're trying to do everything humanly possible to undermine his campaign, and if they succede, they'll be setting themselves up to lose. This is why we need to fight them off again, as they shouldn't be given the chance to hold us hostage again.

Keep The Pressure Up On Preventing Another War With Iran.

We've done well in getting Congress to make sure that President Donald Trump doesn't get us into another war of choice with Iran. However, our job isn't done just yet; we need to keep the pressure up if we're going to stop this war from getting started. There's a couple of videos from Facebook I made to press this point home.

Personal News

Hey all, I know I've been writing a lot of political screeds on here as of late, and they'll continue for the forseeable future. I wanted to take a second to make a personal announcement: I'm finally buckling down on writing a book about my past and use it as a means of helping others get through many of the challenges I face. I'll keep you all informed as much as I can.

In the meantime, if you have any questions/comments about my take on President Donald Trump's impeachment, hit me up on either Facebook and/or Twitter. I'll try to post as extensively as I can on my Youtube channel, too.

Tell Donald Trump Hell No To War With Iran

I can’t stress this enough, what President Donald Trump is doing with Iran is reckless. The last thing we need is a new war to fight. What’s worse is that Trump is threatening to commit war crimes in our names. We need to make clear to the crminal-in-chief that we’re not going to allow this to happen, and that he’ll pay a steep price (i.e., not win re-election in November) for doing so. Call/email the President and make your opposition heard. It’s bad enough that we’re fighting 2 wars in the Middle East, so we don’t need a 3rd war.

Additionally, call/email your Representatives and Senators in Congress, and tell them to sponsor and pass legislation blocking the President from launching a war with Iran. At the same time, make it clear that you will vote them out of office if they block such legislation. It’s a matter of life and death, not left vs. right. We can’t have a President or Congress in office that doesn’t take the aforementioned distinction seriously. Sadly, the President and Congressional Republicans have demonstrated that they don’t.
