The Republican Party's Growing Desperation

I know that in my last posting I was hyperly focused on the plausible likelihood that the Democrats had thrown the election to Donald Trump, and so I think it's only right to balance that with this post. If there's 1 fact that's not lost on the Republicans, it's that they're not going to glide to an easy victory in holding onto the White House this year; they know. This is because of Donald Trump losing more credibility by the second thanks to his continual stream of falsehoods and race-baiting. People can't stand any more of his constant lying and utter imcompetence; especially with his failed response to the COVID-19 outbreak that started in January.

But this is a bigger drain on the Republican Party in the sense that their arguement of making the government small enough to drown in the bathtub has brought about the deaths of almost 200,000 Americans, and has lead to the biggest wealth gap since the roaring '20s. Their inaction illustrates very clearly why we need government, even with its inefficiencies; and why the private sector can not be relied on for certain things. The fact is that the Republican Party has lost its ability to churn out effective policy to benefit people's lives. They have no policy ideas, and their strategy of relying on White Supremacy is starting to fail them as there are fewer older, racist White Americans available to keep them going.

By not having largely expanded their base outside of White America, the Republicans now know that policy and fairly contested elections are not winnable for them. Their platform does not appeal to younger, diverse voters, nor to Americans living paycheck-to-paycheck. But what's killing them even more is that no one is falling for their scare tactics anymore and are actually standing up to them. This was something that they did not expect at all when fielding Trump four years ago. People are on to their tax-and-austerity scam, as they're living it right now. Underneath everything is a body politic that is ready for the type of change the Republican Party is simply not capable of producing.

Nancy Pelosi Has Potentially Cost The Democrats The Election

I don't know how to make any sense of Nancy Pelosi's recent actions, but I can say that it's done an unnecessary amount of damage to the Democratic Party heading into the homestretch before the election. The last thing we as Americans need is to have someone give something to Donald Trump as a path to reelection. Trump, as i've noted on here on more than a few occasions, is the most corrupt and incompetent president in my lifetime, but Nancy's actions are just inexcusable. She is the fricking Speaker of the House of Representatives, the third-highest ranking official in the federal government. This could potentially cost the Democrats the support they had from Independent (no party affiliation) voters, and make Joe Biden's job of unseating Trump that much harder. This is exactly why we need new leadership in the Democratic Party as the current leadership is badly out of touch with the rest of the electorate. We cannot endure another 4 years of Trump or 6 years of Mitch McConnell.

Almost Pulled The Plug

On Saturday, I was whacked out after my girlfriend gave me a thorough talking-to about how I need to think more broadly about employment opportunities (which she's right about) and to keep the blog going as a hobby. I then decided that on Sunday morning I would pull the plug on the blog and take it down for good, and instead go for an insurance license so that I could take ownership of my family's insurance brokerage. The thought in my head at the time was it was time to face the music, and instead of pursuing a crapshoot pipe-dream, and accept the fact that I needed to sell insurance policies for the rest of my life. Here are some open secrets about why I would fail in doing that:
  1. I'm terrible at standardized tests and would probably do poor on the tests to first get the license and then the CE (Continuing Education) tests for its annual renewal
  2. I'm too honest and can't bullshit people for the life of me
  3. I don't have a seller's mentality
  4. I get frustrated way too easily, especially when filling out forms
  5. I don't have the patience to deal with the insurance companies when they try to weasel out of doing their job
  6. I find insurance to be exceedingly depressing
Luckily, both she and my mom were able to talk me out of it as it's still up and functioning, but I need to find a way to get some means of an income.

1968 Is The Wrong Comparison For 2020

I have no patience for those voices who claim that 1968 is the year for us to compare 2020 to in terms of dynamic similarities, as it's the wrong analogy. The right election years to compare 2020 to are 1980 and 1992. 1980 and 1992 were years of immense change in how certain regions had aligned themselves politically. Some states, like California. were Republican-leaning swing states prior to 1992; while others, such as Texas, had been Democratic-leaning swing states prior to 1980. 2020 is shaping up to be a year along those same dynamics again.

What Donald Trump And The Republican Party's Race-Baiting Shows

This is a truth lost on no one, which is that Donald Trump is flailing in the various polls that have come out. This would also explain the reason for his and the Republican Party's continual race-baiting; they have nothing to run on, except for that. The economy has gone out the window and with the Trump Administration's bungled response to COVID-19, no one in their right mind would want to keep the Republicans in power. Dishonest, corrupt and incompetent; those are the best words to describe the Republican Party these days. The fact that they're being brazenly open about their not bothering to govern is a travesty in itself.

Trump and the Republicans turning to race-baiting illustrates that they've acknowleged that their credibility has disappeared and that they need a scapegoat of some kind to serve as a perfectly placed distraction. No amount of lying can get them out of the jam they're in, and they know this. The only way for them to save what power they do have is for the Democrats to nominate a candidate that no one wants as an alternative. This is classic Republican campaign tactics at work: make someone else the problem, make something else the issue. This didn't help the Republicans in both the 2006 and 2018 midterm elections, nor in the 2008 presidential election. Those 3 election cycles saw the Republicans take steep losses at the polls from having nothing to campaign on.

Bad News That's Going To Plague Joe Biden

The MeToo movement has taken center stage yet again in this year's presidential campaign, and not in a way that's going to help Joe Biden become our next plausible president in November's election. As shown below on Krystal Ball's discussion on The Hill's YouTube channel, the media trying to downplay Tara Reade's credible case of being sexually violated by Biden when he was a Senator back in 1993. Ball was interviewing Juanita Brodrrick about her experience with Bill Clinton, and the similarities and differences with Rede's experience. And on top of that, Broadrrick also informed Ball that she had spoken with Reade on the phone and found Rede's cantation of the event was credible. You can watch for yourself below:

However, that's not Biden's only problem. As Kyle Kulinski points out on his talk show Secular Talk, 51% of Bernie Sanders' base has indicated that they'll likely vote for either a  3rd party or independent candidate, or not vote at all in this year's election. Take a moment to let this sink in, as a good chunk of that base is under the age of 45, a group whose votes Biden needs if his push to unseat President Donald Trump is to be successful. As Kulinski clearly explains, this voting demographic is very clear and consistent in their position that returning to business as usual is not the way to go once Trump's no longer in office. You can find the segment here:

Both of these problems, should they continue going unaddressed, will only hand Trump a 2nd term. Democrats are most likely going to blame the very people whose votes they needed to win for Trump's victory by not turning out. While their accusation will be correct, it also glosses over a whole other problem. This problem is their lack of credibility, as people are just as fed up with their triangulation and bothsidesism ideology as they are with the Republicans' trickle-down economics lie and constant race-baiting to distract from their con job.

Even if an investigation into Reade's accountings exposed that she lied, the fact is that Biden's viability as a candidate would already have been compromised; and another candidate would have to run as his replacement, a candidate with no political base. Dynamics dictate that Biden's replacement on the ticket will most likely be Hillary Clinton. And if she ran this time around, she'd likely lose in a landslide as the electorate had made clear the point of NO MORE CLINTONS back in 2016.

Entitlement

Here's a video of my thoughts at being accused of being entitled to a specific candidate.

Just a minor head's up, the sound quality isn't the best. Sorry, the microphone doesn't exactly mute the background fan noise on my laptop.

Banned from Daily Kos

Looks like my last piece on Daily Kos struck a raw nerve, apparently enough to get me banned from posting on the site. I'm not complaining, though I will say I'm quite disappointingly unsurprised. I can see how it the last article I wrote could be seen as trolling, but I can honestly say that wasn't the case. I'll see if I can get this cleared up in some form or another, and let moderation staff know that it was definitely an error on my end. If I can't post anything else there, so be it. I'll just ask them to close the account. I have no ill will to the site, as I said, I'm more saddended than pissed.

Please don't (and I emphasize DON'T) go over to Daily Kos and rip them (and their moderator team) for placing this ban on me. It's not their fault, it's entirely mine as I got careless tonewise. As I said before, I'll deal with this on my own.

I'll be livestreaming a further explanation on YouTube, and will paste on here when it's ready for anyone who wants to rewatch.
